Hi Girls,

Previous game was in Round 8, 6th June.

Our earlier encounter with Peninsula we were 7 – 0 down at half time - it was a game where we started the game flat footed, and it took us half a game to warm up. This was a lesson to be learnt by all, however you all showed in the second half when you tackled harder, got to the ball first and applied pressure across the ground. This slowed down their game and we even managed a few more shots at their goal, with the final score being 9 – 0.

Last Sunday’s game
Apart from a few dodgy calls from their lines man early in the first half providing Peninsula a 3 goal start, the first half was a similar result as our first encounter with Peninsula back in June. However, our defenders working the off-side trap now more effectively and our goalie “Holly” more experienced and guarding the goals with more confidence, these moves alone minimised Peninsula’s chances in the first half.

The second half.
Our defenders with Holly, just about totally stopped Peninsula’s forward moves.  With confusion amongst their forwards for being off-side on many attempts, this was our opportunity to get a few forward moves of our own and our girls took it. Bianca (B2) scoring one goal and on another occasion hitting the right-side goal post.

Other highlights
There were many highlights during the game - Emily, Allyson and Claire having several chances up forward. They were supported by our much better midfield and  the defenders playing sharper and Holly moving in quicker to cut-off any Peninsula’s forward moves.

Next game
29 Aug 2010, 3:00PM Casey Panthers JSC v Mornington SC

Please be there at 2:15 PM

Kurrajong Road, Narre Warren
Map 110G1

PS.
Casey Panthers are just above us in 6th place, we are in 7th place. Even though a win over the Casey Panthers would get us even on points (17), considering we have played one (1) game less. It would be a great effort if we could all play at the start of the game against Casey, as we played in the second half against Peninsula.

Please remember this is our last game for this season, so let’s put in a big effort this Sunday.

Regards
John
