After a hugely successful 2009 on the pitch, which saw them gain promotion to the State League Division Three, Mornington Soccer Club have now put plans in place to see them replicate that success off the pitch, with one of the most exciting committees the club has seen in a long time, looking to make Mornington a Victorian powerhouse again, not only in Men's Senior Soccer, but also in the junior ranks as well.
Club President Stuart Brown said...
"We are already ahead of our five year strategic plan in terms of making the senior team a force again in Victorian Soccer and this now offers our juniors a progression through the ranks into the 1st Team, rather than when they turn sixteen, looking elsewhere to further their football career.
At the meeting it was also rubber stamped that the club will be looking to add to the quality of the squad again this year after bringing in players like Jamie Patterson and Michael Anderson last year. To that end, an important signing has already been made, that of Head Coach, Adam Jamieson, returning to the club for a 2nd year and he said "Obviously I am very pleased to be re-appointed following such a successful year last year. The club is really building some momentum and part of that is attracting the right junior coaches. I encourage all aspiring local coaches to get on board for some exiting opportunities. We are really keen to find the right people to take this club forward and young, enthusiastic junior coaches are paramount if the club is to progress as we have planned." So please send your interest and resume to Secretary, PO Box 237, Mornington, 3931 by the 31st December 2009.
For those players, both young and old, who would like to put on the Orange of Mornington in 2010, keep an eye out on the website, www.morningtonsoccerclub.com.au, for details of pre-season training and also put Saturday, February 6, in the diary as the Club Registration Day for players of all ages.
